About the place
The Buhui dam was built in 1884–1888 to supply water to the town of Anina and its industry. It is a gravity dam of clay soil faced with stone, 17 m high and 54 m long at the crest, which carries a road and a footpath. The lake covers about 10 hectares. It has been repaired several times, most recently in 2005–2007.
The Semenic–Cheile Carașului National Park administration describes it as Romania's first reservoir built on limestone. Buhui Cave lies in the same valley along the DJ582C. On Google the lake holds 4.5 from 124 reviews.
