It holds 4.8 on Google from nearly 500 reviews and is the most direct way from the resort into Domogled–Cerna Valley National Park.
About the place
The yellow-stripe trail starts in the resort, on the DN67D road, and climbs in switchbacks through the forest. The first stop is the White Cross, with a view down over the resort and the Cerna valley.
From the cross the same marking continues along the ridge, through the Domogled reserve with its Banat black pine forest, to Domogledul Mare peak (1,105 m). The summit is more than 900 metres above the resort, usually 2–3 hours up. It is all inside Domogled–Cerna Valley National Park, which covers more than 61,000 hectares.
Good to know
- Bring water: do not count on springs along the trail.
- The route to the summit is not recommended in winter; for the cross, ask at your accommodation whether the path is passable.
- Wear hiking shoes with good grip: the path is rocky and steep.
