It is a listed monument and the oldest church in the western part of town.
About the place
Bocșa Română is the oldest part of town: the village is first mentioned in 1333, and in 1717 it had 82 houses. The Orthodox church of Saint Nicholas, on the main street, was built in 1795 and is a listed monument.
Across the road, at number 97, is a second listed church, the Descent of the Holy Spirit, from 1815. You can see the two together, and Pescăruș Park is a few hundred metres away.
Good to know
- See both churches: they face each other across Republicii Street.
- The interior can usually be seen at services.
- Pescăruș Park is close by for a break.
